Uganda Missions Project Haven

What is Project Haven all about? We operate an orphanage in Kigaya which is in the deep village, by Lake Victoria. Project Haven has 82 orphans in our care.

Uganda Missions is part of Project Haven. It is a church mission organization whose primary focus is church planting in the nations of Africa. In response of the twin dynamics of massive human suffering and tremendous growth of the Aids epidemic and ethnic wars, Project Haven was termed. The purpose of this project and its emphasis is to express our love and care to those affected with aids, poverty and regional wars; regardless of ethnic background or religious affiliations.Schoolhouse

Because of reigns of terror under Idi Amin, Obote, and the military groups that followed, the country of Uganda was paralyzed with these regimes. The country went through a great turmoil. The government system had collapsed, there were no modem infrastructures-the roads had given away, the school system was broken down, hospitals had no doctors and no medicine.

However in the 1990s change was sweeping the continent of Africa in a way unparalleled since the decades of African independence. Democracy was taking the place of authoritarian regimes, racist institutions were crumbling and economies of Africa were growing at an exciting rate. Then AIDS began to sweep through the entire continent of Africa. The World Health Organization estimates that there are 12 billion orphans across the continent of Africa. This spiraling number is attributable to the fact that in some villages the AIDS epidemic wiped out as much as 50% of the population.

Currently, the diverse ministry of Uganda Missions Goals is aimed at:

  • Evangelism
  • Church planting
  • Leadership Training (for pastors and lay leaders)
  • Relief and Development (agriculture and horticulture)
  • Vocational Training (job skills for the needy)
  • Establishment of Schools
  • Medical Ministry (rural clinics)
  • Orphanage construction

It is in this task that we now urgently need your help, both through prayer and financial assistance. It is in this task that you can help build the future of a nation. Because of the AIDS epidemic, there are many orphans left.

We are looking for more parents to adopt or support these orphans. A lot of them we cannot afford to keep in our care because of the limited funds. Everyday at our Kigaya sight, children whether orphans or not are being given a meal for the day. Would you consider adopting a child and become a parent to one of these orphans? You will make a great difference if you choose to sponsor any child in our program. Uganda mission is not a big organization, but we have surely ripped the benefits of sowing into these children's lives. We have had successful stories to tell. Three of our Baskets for fundraisingchildren adopted by different families in the United States graduated from Makerere University. One as a social worker, another one as a doctor and now lectures at the University and then a radio programmer who is also a banker. The two are happily married now and the doctor is continuing to pursue his PhD. We still have one to go who is currently studying computer science at Makerere University. I encourage you to look though our web pages and see the different projects we do and the children who need your help. (The whole story)

Another way to help support our efforts is by importing fine hand-made baskets which can be purchased individually or in quantities at wholesale prices. When you buy these products, you help men and women to support themselves. (The whole story)

It takes an amazing number of people to save a child's life: not just the doctors and scientists or governments but also the corporate sponsors and millions of donors around the world. We now live in a global village, no more boundaries that separated people from each other. Technologies have helped all of us to live close to each other. Will you help us build our orphanage? (The whole story)

You can purchase for us the brick making machine and help us build more houses to

accommodate more orphans. (The whole story)

You are invited to become involved!
