Come help Holly and the friends of sjbes’ down at Our Lady of Victory’s Desert Solitaire, Cross Canyon and Montezuma Creek, San Juan County, Utah for our 1st project for the 2008-09 year:

Rasing a 14 x 20 x 10 Shedlike Structure for Shelter (from a kit purchased from the Mor Storage Company – an independent owned business from Grand Junction)

When: It will start on Friday, October 31st and continue thru Sunday, November 2nd. The kit is to be delivered on Thursday, October 30th, so feel free to come early and help with the preparation for starting on Friday.

Where: It will be at sjbes’ sanctuary Our Lady of Victory’s Desert Solitaire down by Hatch Trading Post in San Juan County, Utah. Go to the site map (Roman Numeral V ) on sjbes’ web for detailed directions. www.projecthaven.com\sjbes

Goal: Our goal for this project is to have fun completing the kit in less than 3 days as a team centered upon the themes of challenge, community, commitment, and courage. Hopefully our experience will be the catalyst for growth and development in heart, mind and soul. (Remember- No matter who we are, we are never too old for growing and developing.) We will use Our Lady’s Daily Routine to schedule our day (If you would like to view it, go to the site map -Roman numeral IX - on sjbes’ web www.projecthaven.com/sjbes

What to Bring: It is up to you to bring what you want; this is just a suggested check list to help out. Camping gear – tent, sleeping bag, lantern, eating utensils, chair for lounging around the fire. Warm and cool clothes – weather will be cold at early morning & night and warm during the midday to early evening. Wind and rain gear, Sun screen, hat, work gloves, Snacks and your favorite beverage (and some to share), and one dish to share with six at a community meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner), Your favorite building tool(s). Hopefully there will be a small generator that will be available, but do not count on one when considering what tool(s) to bring. Bring your Mtn bike, hiking gear and/or lounging gear. Bring your favorite costume, and/or story depicting Hal’o eve (Theme - your favorite saint, ghost, or hero(ine). Water / There is an aqua spring for water down at the sanctuary, but it is high in potassium. Bring your own water if you don’t want to drink/bathe from the spring’s water. There will be two camping toilets set up for the four days, but feel free to bring your own port-a-potty for your own personal use.
Bring a cooler with ice.

The following menu will be provided (though it may be subject to change):
Thursday Dinner – Texas style chili, vegetable tray, fruit salad and pecan pie.
Friday Breakfast – Hot cereal, fruit, bagels w/ cream cheese, coffee
Friday Lunch – Green pork chili w/ bean & cheese burritos, tossed green salad w/avocado dressing, and cinnamon twists
Friday Dinner – Barbeque brisket, baked potatoes, green beans, fruit salad, hard rolls, and brownies
Saturday Breakfast – 2 Egg pies –cheese, onion, tomato, pepper and ham, Swiss, - pancakes and coffee
Saturday Lunch – Fried chicken, potato salad, fruit and vegetable plate, assortment of cookies
Saturday Dinner – Baked ham, baked potatoes, tossed green salad w/ Italian dressing, fr. Bread, and apple pie.
Sunday Breakfast – Yogurt, granola, assortment of muffins and rolls, with coffee. (Some people will be leaving at 11 am to go to 12 pm Mass at St. Joseph’s in Monticello)
Sunday Lunch – Leftovers

* You may contribute your dish at any one of these meals. Remember to bring some snacks to share.
